Education Activities Directed to Trainees and Students

The Osteoporosis Program often welcomes elective trainees from medicine subspecialty programs in the clinic to learn more about osteoporosis management.

Regular teaching activities include educational rounds for residents and medical students on endocrinology rotations at UHN.

Education Activities Directed to Faculty and Staff

  • Creation of videos for health care providers
  • Overview of Osteoporosis 2023 Guidelines
  • Recent interdisciplinary teaching sessions with Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) technicians and nurses, and with other care teams (ie. Toronto Western Hospital family health team and medical grand rounds)

Education Activities Directed to Patients and Families

  • Creation of educational videos on the 2023 Osteoporosis Canada guidelines for patients. Videos were about nutrition, exercise and medications.

Education Activities Directed Outside Schroeder Arthritis Institute

  • Monthly multidisciplinary case rounds with radiology, genetics and osteoporosis providers throughout the GTA
  • Interdisciplinary teaching sessions with Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) technicians and nurses, and with other care teams (ie. Toronto Western Hospital family health team and medical grand rounds)
