Member of the media? Here's what you need to know about working with UHN.

What we do

We liaise with media to highlight UHN-led initiatives and research and work to identify experts to comment on health stories of the day. Our first priority is to accommodate news media covering stories directly related to UHN activities and patient care. All other requests are considered on an individual basis, with patients and staff in mind.

Getting in touch with an expert at UHN

To inquire about interviewing a subject matter expert, please call the media line or contact a Communications representative.

  • 416 340 4636, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
  • After hours, call 416 340 3155 and ask for Public Affairs to be paged

Filming on UHN property

UHN's policy is that all film crews on hospital property must be supervised by a UHN Public Affairs representative. Please contact the Public Affairs representative for the hospital where you would like to film. Our first priority is to accommodate accredited news media covering stories directly related to UHN activities and patient care. All other requests are considered on an individual basis.

Patient Privacy

Due to legislative requirements, we are unable to provide comment on any patient who has received care at one of our sites. To learn more about privacy policies, please visit UHN's Privacy Office.

Freedom of Information

Freedom of Information requests are made through UHN's FIPPA Coordinator. To learn more, visit the Freedom of Information page.

Patient Relations

Public Affairs and Patient Relations are not the same department. Patient Relations supports patients and their families during hospital stays or visits. The UHN Ombudsman provides patients and families with an opportunity to express compliments, concerns, questions and suggestions.
