Healing Beyond the Body (HBB) Program

The Princess Margaret Cancer Program has a trained team of volunteers who work directly with cancer patients and their supporters as part of the Healing Beyond the Body program.​​ HBB volunteers offer emotional support and participate in friendly conversations. HBB volunteers can answer your questions, connect you with services, help with practical problems, and prepare you for upcoming appointments. You can connect to a HBB volunteer for a phone or video chat, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.

Caregiver Clinic

If you are caring for someone getting cancer care at the Princess Margaret and you are in need of extra support, ask a Princess Margaret health care provider for a referral to the Caregiver Clinic.

Individual Relaxation Therapy

Many people feel anxious and stressed when they are going through cancer treatment. Sometimes, this stress can interfere with your daily life. if you are having trouble with stress, you may benefit.

To get referred, ask your health care team for a referral to occupational therapy for relaxation therapy.

Managing Cancer And Living Meaningfully (CALM) Therapy

CALM is a free talk therapy for patients with metastatic or advanced cancer. Trained therapists can help you manage your distress, discuss your cancer-related problems and plan for the future.

To get referred, ask your health care team for a referral to the Department of Supportive Care that has 'CALM Therapy' written on the referral form.

You can self-refer to this program. For more information or to book an appointment, call 416 946 4525.

Palliative Care Clinic

Your team at the Palliative Care Clinic focuses on pain and symptom control as well as the emotional, spiritual, social and practical needs of patients and their families.

Palliative care support is available to patients at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Ask a member of your Princess Margaret health care team to refer you to the clinic.

Psychosocial Oncology Clinic

Your team at the Psychosocial Oncology Clinic includes social workers, music therapists (inpatient unit only), psychologists and psychiatrists. You must be a patient of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to be referred to Psychosocial Oncology.

To see a psychiatrist or psychologist, you need a referral from your oncologist (cancer doctor).

To see a social worker, you can self-refer by calling 416 946 4525, or you can ask your health care team to refer you.

Spirtual Care

Spirituality can help you maintain your health and cope with difficult experiences. It can help you find meaning, value and connection. You do not have to be religious to benefit from spiritual care.
