​​​​​Heart failure is defined as the inability of the heart to pump adeq​uately to meet the needs of the body. The impact of heart failure on our health care system is tremendous. Heart failure is rapidly rising in prevalence, and is the commonest reason for hospital admission.​

The Ted Rogers Centre of Excellence in Heart Function at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) is the largest in Canada and specializes in replacement strategies for advanced heart failure, including mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation.
