Our UHN programs and services are among the most advanced in the world. We have grouped our physicians, staff, services and resources into 10 medical programs to meet the needs of our patients and help us make the most of our resources.
University Health Network is a health care and medical research organization in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN has made us a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care.

Therapeutic recreation is a profession which recognizes leisure, recreation and play as integral components of quality of life. Service is provided to individuals who have physical, mental, social or emotional limitations which impact their ability to engage in meaningful leisure.
Therapeutic recreation is directed toward functional interventions, leisure education and fostering participation opportunities. We help individuals maximize their independence in leisure, optimal health and the highest possible quality of life.
The foundation of the therapeutic recreation therapy profession is the establishment of authentic relationships with the individual receiving services and all other key stakeholders. We use a collaborative approach in assessment, goal-setting, program/intervention development, individual and group facilitation, documentation, and evaluation. Programs are designed to promote independent functioning within the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, behavioural and social domains and to educate people about the skills and resources needed to participate in recreation and leisure.
As part of its advocacy, recreation therapy is committed to educating society about the rights and capacity of all citizens to participate in recreation and leisure.
UHN is a workplace where you will enjoy the unique challenges of your chosen field, create and engage in best practices, and you will be at the heart of facilities bringing the world new health care innovations.
