Thank you Living Donation Week 2023  

Living Donation Week (LDW) is a public awareness event launched by the Centre for Living Organ Donation in 2020 with support from the transplant community across Canada and beyond. It is held annually, starting the Sunday after Labour Day.

#LDW2023 features:

  • Over 50 landmarks lit up green in Canada & USA.
  • Local partner events in communities from coast to coast.
  • Virtual Celebration Livestream featuring living donation stories, interviews, entertainment, living donor medal selfies and more.
  • Gratitude wall to share messages of thanks to your living donor, recipient and everyone who supported your journey. Post your message early and it may be read out during the Celebration Event on September 11.
  • Hands-on online workshop in person in various locations across Canada and online on how to share your story and begin the search for a living donor for people with end-stage kidney or liver disease and their caregivers and friends.

The Gratitude Wall

The Gratitude Wall 

The Gratitude Wall is a public kudo board. Write a message of thanks to your living donor, transplant recipient, doctor, surgeon, nurse, social worker or whoever helped you along the way on your transplant or donation journey. Messages will be shared with the transplant community, including team members at UHN and beyond. We will also be highlighting your messages during the Living Donor Celebration Event livestream on September 11.

Celebration Events

LDW23 Celebration Week 

Our annual Living Donor Recognition Event was on Monday, September 11th at 12 pm EST. Emceed by Centre for Living Organ Donation Education & Outreach Coordinator, Candice Coghlan, and patient partner and Green Table Talk host, Jennen Johnson, this event will feature living donation stories, messages of gratitude from recipients and families, community partners and transplant leaders, special entertainment courtesy of Ivica Balaban, a kidney transplant recipient and opera singer. Stories from coast to coast - British Columbia, Prairies, Central Canada, Atlantic Canada and Nunavut!





 

National Living Donation Awareness Campaign:
Great Actions Leave a Mark

Living organ donation reduces deaths on the transplant wait list and gives kidney and liver recipients and their families a new chance at life. Great Actions Leave A Mark tells the inspiring stories behind the scars of living kidney and liver donors and recipients from across Canada. Realize your greatness. Save a life, leave a mark.
