How to Prepare

Someone will call you to give you a time for your first appointment with the Breast Surgery section. Learn more about preparing for your first appointment in the Guide to Princess Margaret.

Before each clinic visit, you will be asked to answer questions about your health and wellbeing. Use PATH (Princess Margaret At Home) to report your symptoms and concerns to your health care team. With the new PATH application, you can complete your Pre-Assessment Questions anywhere on a computer or mobile device within two days of your appointment. If you did not get an email reminder for doing your Pre-Appointment Questions, contact the Breast Clinic to have your email address added.

The first person you meet at the Breast Centre is the Patient Flow Coordinator. Please sign in with the Patient Flow Coordinator at the reception desk.

If you were unable to complete the pre-appointment questions on PATH, you will be asked to complete the DART self-assessment at the start of your clinic visit. DART stands for Distress Assessment and Response Tool. DART asks about your experiences with common physical symptoms, practical concerns and emotional concerns. Your health care team uses your answers to track how you are doing and to make sure your most important concerns are looked after.

First appointments take longer than follow-up appointments.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your first appointment to complete intake forms.
  • First appointments can take 2 hours or more. After your visit to the clinic, you will likely go the Blood Collection Lab for blood tests.
  • Follow-up appointments usually take 30 minutes.
