Program Summary

The virtual asynchronous Cancer 360: High School program consists of 10 units delivered entirely online. Participants will be able to earn an eCertificate of Completion by completing all 10 units and evaluation surveys.

Course Content

The Cancer 360: High School course includes 10 units covering topics that are not typically covered in training for cancer care professionals.

About Cancer and Cancer Survivorship

This unit defines what cancer is, how cancer is treated, and key issues facing cancer survivors. It also includes a description of an innovative cancer rehabilitation program for survivors as well as a video series featuring various types of professionals who work in cancer care.

This unit defines cancer prevention strategies and their importance for the public health system from the perspective of Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario), a health agency of the provincial government of Ontario, are discussed.

This unit provides an introduction to key issues in Indigenous Cancer Care and context to appreciate Indigenous relationships and cultural safety. A new perspective on Indigenous culture is shared through a recorded discussion among three Indigenous healthcare providers.

In this unit the field of music therapy is introduced including a focus on how music therapy complements all healthcare fields, and what music therapy means on a physical, mental, and social level.

The Cancer 360: High School units are a coordinated suite of offerings, with each unit building upon and informing the next. For learners who complete all 10 educational units, an eCertificate of Completion for Cancer 360: High School will be awarded. Please note that if a unit has questions or a quiz associated with it, you must also complete these to complete the unit.
