University Health Network is a health care and medical research organization in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN has made us a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care.

As part of The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, The UHN International Centre for Education™ (UHN ICE™) seeks to innovate and educate without borders. UHN ICE leverages a wide range of expertise across the organization to build educational programs and relationships that will translate into high quality care.
The PLP is a fully customizable, observership-based program designed to meet your learning goals and objectives. No 2 PLPs are exactly the same! Through the PLP, we are able to leverage various resources and expertise throughout UHN that will enhance the learning experience. We work closely with host program(s) and learners to develop an Education Plan, outlining the activities of the PLP which are meant to meet your learning objectives. Learners receive a UHN-Michener Certificate of Completion at the end of the program.

This PLP provides a unique opportunity for an
on-the-ground view of implementing High Reliability principles at Canada's largest academic health sciences centre. Since UHN is still at the early stages of our journey to become a High Reliability Organization (HRO), this provides a rich learning experience for those who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the structures, strategies and resources to take patient safety and quality of care to the next level.
