Our UHN programs and services are among the most advanced in the world. We have grouped our physicians, staff, services and resources into 10 medical programs to meet the needs of our patients and help us make the most of our resources.
University Health Network is a health care and medical research organization in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN has made us a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care.
Our 10 medical programs are spread across eight hospital sites – Princess Margaret, Toronto General, Toronto Rehab’s five sites, Toronto Western – as well as our education programs through the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. Registered Dietitians (RDs) at UHN are registered with the
College of Dietitians of Ontario, the provincial regulatory body. The practice of dietetics and nutrition at UHN adheres to the standards of care and conduct, as mandated by this organization. Registered Dietitians at UHN also hold membership with
Dietitians of Canada, our national organization.
All RDs at UHN are authorized to write and revise diet and tube feeding orders to facilitate medical nutrition therapy. RDs within certain programs are also authorized to order multivitamins with minerals.
Several RDs at UHN hold additional professional credentials, such as "Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE)" with the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board, "Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC)" with the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and "Certified Specialist in Oncology (CSO)" with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
