National Physician Assistants Day is a day to celebrate the work they do to have a positive impact on quality care for patients.

This small but mighty group – about 20 physician assistants (PAs) work at UHN – are highly trained clinical professionals working alongside supervising physicians. They perform patient assessments, examinations, develop diagnosis, and administer treatments.

PAs, who marked their national day of recognition yesterday, work in a variety of areas in the organization, including the Emergency Department, General Surgery, and Transplant, helping to reduce the workload of doctors, wait times for patients, and improve timely access to care.
