Hockey helps heal
One evening when Humberto Laranjo was working in the emergency department, a patient was brought in who'd been hit by a car. The man was in a coma and seriously injured.
The patient's father told Humberto that his son was a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. So, for the next few weeks, Humberto made an effort to share the Leafs score with the man after every game.
When the patient finally came out of a coma, incredibly, he recognized Humberto's voice - and could remember everything he'd told him...
