TIME™ is a recreational fitness program and does not require medical referrals or physical assessments. It does require self-reported participant screening and the completion of a participation waiver.
When you enter a TIME™ Classic license agreement with UHN Toronto Rehab, you gain the right to offer TIME™ at your organization. As with any other recreational fitness program, you are responsible for:
- Securing the space and equipment needed to deliver the program
- Assigning fitness instructors (and any volunteers) to deliver the program
- Promoting the program
- Participant registration and associated administration
We recommend offering classes twice weekly for eight plus weeks, on a year-round basis, or seasonally to align with your existing programming schedule.
Your fitness instructors receive specialized TIME™ training (five hours total) before they can teach TIME™. This training builds upon their existing fitness instructor certification and knowledge.
You need one TIME™-trained fitness for every four participants (1:4 ratio). Ideally, you have one instructor per circuit station, meaning three instructors and 12 participants. Volunteers without a fitness background can support TIME™ by leading the walking station. This would result in two instructors, one volunteer, and 12 participants.
If you are a community organization that does not employ fitness instructors but wish to train your staff to teach TIME™, the TIME™ Program Lead can discuss your unique situation and decide if TIME™ is the right fit. Please do reach out at
TIME@uhn.ca.
