two people holding hands at a support group

Living with a brain tumour presents many challenges for both patients and their families. Our Brain Tumour Support Groups give you the chance to meet and talk with others in situations similar to yours.

There are 2 separate group sessions. One session is for patients and the other session is for family members and friends. The 2 groups run at the same time.

The sessions are led by a nurse, social worker, occupational therapist or other professional member of the brain tumour team. We occasionally invite guest speakers to discuss special topics, as requested by group members.

Support groups at The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre give patients, friends and family members the opportunity to:

  • Meet other people who have dealt with similar problems
  • Share in the dynamic support that a group can offer
  • Get trustworthy information from qualified health care providers

Participants are encouraged to share information, but you can choose how much you wish to say.

Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, support groups at The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumour Centre are currently on hold. Please see below for virtual support groups run by the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
