pharamacist looking at data

The members of the pharmacy team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre contribute to patient care by actively participating in cancer-related research. Pharmacists embrace the opportunity to perform research in the hopes of defining a new standard of care and improving patient care outcomes. We work collaboratively with interprofessional teams to advance research and practice.

We are involved in numerous areas of research including:

  • Disease prevention
  • Medication safety
  • Pharmacists' role and integration into the health care team to enhance overall patient care
  • Pharmacokinetic studies
  • Pharmacodynamic studies

Overall, UHN Pharmacy has a unique and innovative model with pharmacists appointed to the UHN Research Institutes. Every year we have pharmacist-led research projects that continue to advance medication management practice, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the field of pharmacy through innovative solutions and evidence-informed practices. Many of our research projects have been integrated in local practice.
