The Mindfulness–Based Interventions are aimed at enhancing reducing stress and
enhancing wellbeing through the development of specific mindfulness meditation
skills. Mindfulness assists people in coping with their emotional, physical,
psychological and existential challenges.
Participants learn a wide variety of practices they
can use to prevent or improve stress and distress when it
arises.
Participants report they are better able to meet the variety of concerns that arise
from going through the cancer journey. These concerns include dealing with depression, anxiety, body image distress and pain, and living with uncertainty and fear of
recurrence.
MBIs are offered in group settings, and differ from traditional support groups in that
they are experiential, skills based treatments. Groups can accommodate class sizes of
up to 20 plus participants.
