As future leaders, postdoctoral researchers benefit from acquiring leadership skills during their fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The Princess Margaret Biosciences Oncology Leadership Development (BOLD) Program is an opportunity to develop self-awareness, communication and management skills to lead projects and research teams, and connect with other Princess Margaret postdoctoral researchers and leaders in academia, research, healthcare and industry.

Program Goals

Module 1 - Leadership and Self-Awareness

  • Develop a better understanding of yourself and your colleagues to create respectful, productive and positive working relationships
  • Discover the importance of mentorship in science and leadership development
  • Apply principles and practices to support inclusivity in your work

Module 2 - Knowledge Translation and Communications: Amplify Your Ideas

  • Determine successful communication strategies to improve collaboration
  • Use knowledge translation techniques and a variety of channels to elevate your communications

Module 3 -​ Health Systems, Global Health, Teams and Planning for the Future

  • Situate your work in the context of health and the health system
  • Influence others by using leadership strategies including conflict management, negotiation, and leading change
  • Build strong and healthy teams
  • Explore the wide variety of impacts and paths that may come after your time as a BOLD participant
