SHERLOCK is a research study at UHN’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre that uses a simple blood test (“liquid biopsy”) to detect molecular residual disease (MRD)—tiny traces of cancer that may remain after treatment. By identifying MRD earlier, researchers aim to better understand cancer recurrence and explore ways to prevent it.

Approach Your UHN Cancer Care Team
Ask your oncologist or a member of your UHN cancer care team about SHERLOCK. If appropriate, your care team will refer you, and a member of the study team will follow up.
Review and Sign a Consent Form
If you are eligible and would like to join, you will receive a consent form and can review details with the study team.
Provide a Blood Sample
Once enrolled, you will need to provide a blood sample. You can provide your blood sample at any UHN blood lab. Samples are collected at planned time points (often coordinated with routine visits), up to a total of 6 times over 12 months.
