The Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation recently launched a new fundraiser called Diwali – A Night to Shine. The event, which will take place on October 16, supports the life-saving care in the emergency departments at TGH and TWH.

Diwali, the South Asian "Festival of Lights," symbolizes hope, luck and prosperity and is one of the most important celebrations on the Indian calendar. The kick-off celebration in the DeGasperis Conservatory at TGH on February 28 offered a sneak preview of the big evening in October.
The evening fundraiser in October, will be held at the Fairmont Royal York Ballroom, and will feature Bollywood entertainment and South Asian cuisine.
Funds raised from the evening will support specialized equipment and resources for the EDs. Led by Dr. Anil Chopra, UHN's Emergency Departments treat more than 80,000 patients each year.
