On March 6, 2014, the 5th annual Fairchild Chinese-Canadian Radiothon (AM 1430/FM 88.9), was broadcast live from the Atrium at Toronto Western Hospital from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Hosted by The Toronto General and Western Hospital Foundation (TGWHF), the event saw numerous UHN departments, staff, and volunteers work together to make this year's event a record-breaking success.
More than 1,350 donors supported the event, raising more than $170,000.
"It was incredible to watch the community rally together for this important cause," said Jodi Frers, Development Officer, TGWHF.
Interviewees included: Drs. Bob Bell, Charlie Chan, Terry Yau, Louis Liu, Harry Janssen, Marisa Sit, Kenneth Fung, Robert Chen, MP Olivia Chow, and other UHN clinicians and patients.
Event proceeds will support the Chinese Community Health Fund benefitting patients at Toronto Western and General Hospitals. Over the past years, donations from this event have supported programs and services, including: the Asian Initiative in Mental Health, Liver Clinic, Patient and Family Education, and Translations & Interpretation Services.
