Crossing University Avenue can be dangerous for even the most alert pedestrians. But what happens when someone affected by hearing loss steps onto the street?
Today at 1 p.m., Dr. Jennifer Campos will be live on Periscope hosting a tour of Streetlab, in which she uses a virtual reality simulation of one of Toronto's busiest intersections to study the relationship between hearing loss and falls.
How does the simulation work? What factors affect someone's risk of falling? Why is it necessary to use virtual reality to study those factors?
Follow the broadcast on
University Health Network's Twitter page today at 1 p.m. to hear Dr. Campos' answers.
