Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Boozary, Executive Director of the Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine at UHN, for being honoured as a recipient of the Adrienne Clarkson Laureateship for Public Service.

This prestigious award celebrates Dr. Boozary's transformative leadership in advancing health equity and social justice, including pioneering initiatives such as Dunn House, Canada's first hospital-embedded supportive housing.

Dr. Boozary's unwavering commitment to the common good, from his local advocacy during Toronto's COVID-19 Homelessness Response to global efforts with Partners in Health, exemplifies the spirit of the Laureateship.

The awarding of Clarkson Laureateships was approved by the Governing Board of Massey College at the University of Toronto in 2003 and the inaugural Laureateships were awarded in 2004, during the final year that Adrienne Clarkson, a Senior Fellow of the College, was Governor General of Canada.

The award honours her many years of service to Canada by recognizing those members of its community who also contribute to the common good. In addition to their citation, Massey College arranges for a donation on behalf of each Laureate to a charity of their choice.

Congratulations to two teams from UHN's Princess Margaret Cancer Centre on being highlighted at the 17th Annual CQCO Quality and Innovation Awards, which celebrates significant contributions to cancer care quality and innovation in Ontario.

In the Quality category, the work of Drs. Rinat Nissim and Sarah Hales in the Caregiver Clinic received an honorable mention. As a result of their leadership, the clinic stands out as Canada's first cancer centre program dedicated to supporting family caregivers facing psychological, emotional and physical challenges while caring for cancer patients.

In the Innovation category, the Cancer Digital Intelligence (CDI) team, led by Mike Lovas, earned an honourable mention for creating the Digital Triage service. This team brought to life a service that automatically triages questions or concerns patients submit through a form on the myUHN Patient Portal to the appropriate care teams across the 16 outpatient clinics at the Princess Margaret. This service helps ensure patients receive a timely response.

These recognitions reflect the dedication, collaboration and expertise of the teams involved.

The contributions of all team members have set a high standard in cancer care quality and innovation at the Princess Margaret. Their collective efforts will continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families.
