One of the best places to work in Canada
Glassdoor has published their annual list of the top 25 places to work in Canada and UHN has been ranked #18 – we are also the only health care organization to make the list. It's an incredible honour as the list is generated based on employee feedback and rankings. We are so fortunate at UHN to have such engaged staff who provide open and honest feedback. I think the summary of the nearly 200 reviews perfectly describes our organization - a "nurturing environment and great people to work with." At UHN we all come together to transform lives and communities through excellence in care, discovery and learning, and I believe that is what makes our organization great.
Patient Portal
During our PVP celebration events we had a chance to hear from some of UHN's Patient Partners who really connected with our primary value, "the needs of patients come first" (I encourage you to print out
this PVP poster for your workspace to remind yourself of our values, as well as our purpose statement and principles). One way we're working to put this value into action is with the creation of a Patient Portal, called myUHN. The Patient Experience team shared a sneak peek of this incredible technology at the event, which you can now watch
here. The portal, which will launch on January 30th, 2017, will provide patients with appointment reminders, access to their lab results, health resources and will enable patients to share their health information with others. For updates on the Patient Portal, you can follow @myUHNPortal on Twitter. This digital platform will make it easier for patients to access and share their health information, and is truly helping to put their needs first.
IT Town Hall on December 16th
This Friday, December 16th Dr. David Jaffray, EVP Technology and Innovation, and I will be hosting an IT Town Hall to update the organization on some exciting changes and accomplishments on our IT Transformation journey. This is the first in a series of IT Transformation Town Halls taking place across UHN. The Town Hall schedule is:

- Toronto Western: Wednesday, January 11th, 10:30- 11:30am, BMO Education & Conference Centre

UHN's United Way Campaign Starts Today!
The United Way Campaign is officially underway. In previous years many of you generously donated to the campaign and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of you. Beginning today to December 28th you can donate to the 2016 campaign by using the personalized United Way@Work online donation tool or picking up a paper-based pledge form at the TGH HR reception.
