Last week many UHN leaders and myself took part in the opening of the BMO Education and Conference Centre which opened at the Toronto Western site. There have been stories and e-mails about the opening so I wanted to add my support for the opening and to encourage everyone at UHN who is holding a conference or large meetings to consider holding them in our new facility. Yes – there will be a charge but the good news is that the money stays within UHN. You can see additional details by clicking here. Today we showcased the facility to our community as we hosted a Quality and Safety Summit for board trustees and clinical leaders from UHN, Sinai Health System, Women's College Hospital, and Sick Kids Hospital – the four organizations that are coming together around a quality and safety transformation.

Recently, a few people have asked me about where we are with the due diligence process with the Michener Institute. I am pleased to report that, through the hard work of many people, that we have almost concluded the due diligence evaluation process. As a result, I expect the boards of UHN and Michener to receive a recommendation on integration following the conclusion of that process. With the agreement of both Boards, we would then move forward to implementation of a process of integration.

I also want to acknowledge the superb input that we have received from people about our organizational renewal. We are working with the executive team on the structures within the portfolios and we will post new organizational charts as soon as this work is completed.  We will also be posting the video – with slides – of the presentation.
