Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating Paul Alofs and the team from the PMH Foundation for organizing another tremendously successful Weekend to End Breast Cancer. The Sixth Annual WEBC was held this past weekend and (despite getting wetter than bargained for) nearly 5,000 walkers had a terrific time raising more than $13 M for UHN Programs in Breast Cancer Research, Survivorship and enhancements to Breast Cancer Treatment.

A big thank you to Janet Hale and her team of nurses and physicians who volunteered for the Medical Team and kept everyone healthy en route. Thanks as well to all the UHN staff who participated in the Walk as Walkers or volunteers and to the crowds who came out to cheer as the Walkers passed by the hospital on Sunday.

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer has become a very important event in Toronto’s Philanthropy Calendar. I personally have learned a tremendous amount about how people think about our health system and hospital by listening to participants... it’s like a two day big focus group in running shoes. Congratulations to PMHF for keeping this wonderful event fresh and exciting!!
