Hi everyone,
I'm very pleased to announce that University Health Network has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for the fifth consecutive year, and, for the second year, one of the GTA's Top 50 Employers.
This is a landmark achievement, and demonstrates our ability to continually provide an environment in which staff can thrive and achieve their own goals, while working towards UHN's vision of achieving global impact. And, the award is shared by all of you - it is a testament to all staff and managers across UHN who contribute their efforts to making this an exceptional place to work each day.
Rankings are determined by Mediacorp Canada, which reviews recruitment histories of over 60,000 employers from across the country. Only 10,000 of these employers are invited to apply for the award, with over 1,500 participating in the application process. Selection criteria include compensation, benefits, vacation, training programs, work environment, health and wellness programs and diversity initiatives. As many of the areas on this list are the responsibility of Human Resources, I would also like to extend my thanks to Emma Pavlov and her wonderful team of HR professionals, who work with all of you to make UHN a place where people want to work.
This is the first year that employee survey data was included in the competition, making this achievement particularly significant for us. Our continued focus on developing leadership skills that enhance employee relationships and on recruitment and retention best practices have had a strong impact on our ranking.
Breakthrough research and learning opportunities attract brilliant minds from all over the world to UHN, while leadership programs and development opportunities allow employees to continually enhance their skills. This, coupled with UHN's commitment to diversity, has helped bring together a group of employees that not only reflects the diverse populations served by each of the hospitals, but also continually improves the quality of care given to patients.
