As a patient at Princess Margaret, you benefit from the expanded services of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. Our expert staff works at all locations of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. You will receive the same quality of care with the same state-of-the-art equipment at all facilities. Results of imaging studies done at any facility in the Joint Department of Medical Imaging are available to your doctor.

When you arrive at the Breast Imaging Centre, please check in at the reception desk. After checking in, you will be asked to remove your clothing from the waist up, put on a hospital gown, and have a seat in the patient waiting area. When it is your turn, a technologist will come to the waiting area and call your name.
You will be given a form to fill out. This form contains questions about your background. We collect this information to find out who we serve and what unique needs you may have.
The form is voluntary and you can choose ‘prefer not to answer’ to any or all questions. However, the information you chose to give us will help us improve the quality of care for you and others.
There are several different types of breast imaging tests. Breast imaging tests are used to help detect breast cancer early, to diagnose breast cancer and to monitor treatment if you have breast cancer. At the Breast Imaging Centre, we use the latest digital imaging equipment.

Please allow at least 1-2 hour for your scheduled appointment. If you have more than one examination scheduled at the Breast Imaging Centre, you should allow for more time.
We do our best to stay on time. Unfortunately, your appointment may be delayed by unforeseen circumstances. We recommend that you come prepared for delays. For example, make arrangements for babysitting, elder care and parking so that you can accommodate a longer than usual appointment.
