 What We Do

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a heart condition that 1 in 500 people have. It's often inherited and has to do with excessive heart muscle growth. Symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath and heart rhythm problems. It's the most common cause of sudden death in young athletes.

Patients with HCM can present with many different types of clinical problems. In the clinic we do a risk assessment for sudden death and manage symptoms related to the excessive heart muscle growth. We have helped to pioneer both the medical and interventional therapy for this condition.
