DESCRIPTION

The GoodLife Fitness Centre of Excellence in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Medicine is a first of its kind, private/public collaboration bringing together two leading health and wellness organizations to further enhance the continuum of care for patients with cardiac disease.

At the core is a 6-month long program designed for people with a history of heart attack, patients who have undergone heart surgery, valve surgery, angioplasty, arrhythmia, angina or other heart conditions, as well as those at high risk of heart disease because of their family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes.

The program includes:

  • Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation: a group-based outpatient exercise and education program
  • Cardiac Rehab at Home: an alternative to on-site cardiac rehabilitation for people who cannot attend the on-site program
  • Women with Heart: a cardiac rehabilitation program designed specifically for women
  • Heart Failure, Exercise and Education: a cardiac rehabilitation program designed specifically for people living with heart failure and heart transplant
  • Diabetes, Exercise & Healthy Lifestyle : an education program designed to help people diagnosed with diabetes live a healthy life through diet, exercise and lifestyle
  • Risk Factor Modification and Exercise Following Stroke: a program designed to help people who have suffered a stroke to improve function and reduce the risk of another event
  • Health, Exercise, Active Living and Therapeutic Lifestyle Program: a program designed specifically for women who are in treatment for or recovering from breast cancer
