What We Do

Our unit provides patients and families the education and training they need to perform peritoneal dialysis at home, on their own. We use two types of dialysis techniques:

  • Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)
  • Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD)

After patients and families have completed their dialysis training, they practice their first dialysis session in our Innovation Room. The Innovation Room offers a home-like environment, where staff is close by for help.

Training is offered at the following times:

  • Every Wednesday morning,
  • One Monday morning each month
  • One Monday afternoon each month

Dialysis Start Unit (Room 411):

We are also the home of the Dialysis Start Unit, which is available for patients who need to start dialysis urgently. This allows patients to receive dialysis, and learn about different dialysis treatment options.
