WHAT IS OPENLAB?

OpenLab is a design and innovation shop dedicated to finding creative solutions that transform the way health care is delivered and experienced.

We have a particular affection for low-cost solutions, because innovation doesn't have to be expensive.

Located at the University Health Network (UHN), Canada's largest research hospital, OpenLab's work extends far beyond the walls of UHN. In fact, we view the health system as our lab.

OpenLab builds on the collective works and experience of our predecessor, the Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC), and challenged ourselves to re-imagine what it means to be an innovator in an era of health care so rich in technological progress yet, so challenged in meeting the needs of people.

Our weekly Open Rounds are, as the name suggests, open for everyone to attend. Held on the 13th floor of Toronto General Hospital every Tuesday at noon, it is our weekly gathering to discuss progress across all of our projects and to entertain new ideas.

In addition to the OpenLab staff, Open Rounds are often attended by people unaffiliated with OpenLab.
