Toronto (Nov. 21, 2013) - As announced today by Waterstone Human Capital Ltd., The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (The PMCF) has been named one of the Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2013 in the Broader Public Sector. The selection is the second such achievement for The Foundation, having also been named to the Top 10 in 2010.

In fiscal 2013, The PMCF raised $88.5 million in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world and Canada's largest comprehensive cancer research centre. Eighteen months into its ambitious Billion Dollar Challenge, The PMCF, in partnership with researchers at The Princess Margaret, has raised $330 million as part of a five-year program launched in the Spring of 2012. The Foundation's challenge is to raise $500 million through philanthropy while Princess Margaret researchers are challenged to secure the other $500 million through grants. This is the largest single fundraising campaign in the history of Canadian healthcare.

The doctors and scientists at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre believe that they will conquer cancer in our lifetime by matching treatment programs to the exact type and stage of tumour for each individual patient. Funds from the Billion Dollar Challenge are already being utilized to advance Personalized Cancer Medicine, which detects cancer earlier, diagnoses cancer more precisely, targets treatment for each individual patient and supports patients and their families through their entire cancer journey.

Heather Connelly, Managing Director, Broader Public Sector at Waterstone Human Capital Inc., stated, "This year's winners are truly an outstanding group of best-in-class organizations with cultures that have helped them enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage. The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, along with its co-winners on the 2013 list of trailblazers, is at the forefront of best practices in culture in Canada. Our heartfelt congratulations to Paul Alofs and all at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation."

Paul Alofs, President & CEO of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, said, "We are absolutely honoured and very, very proud to once again be recognized by an organization as esteemed as Waterstone Human Capital. The outstanding staff and volunteers at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation take enormous pride in helping fund the extraordinary work taking place at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world."

The award for being named one of the Top 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2013 in the Broader Public Sector will be presented at a gala to take place Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Toronto Hilton.
