Waste Reduction Week is a national environmental campaign that encourages everyone to conserve natural resources and reduce waste. At UHN, it's also an opportunity to celebrate our progress, challenge ourselves, and collaborate with healthcare partners across Ontario in reducing our environmental footprint.
Waste Reduction Week encourages everyone to conserve natural resources through:
- Sustainable and responsible consumption
- Choosing more environmentally responsible products and services
- Sorting it out: recycling and composting more while disposing less in landfills
The 10th Annual Inter-Hospital Waste Reduction Week Challenge
This year marks the 10th annual Waste Reduction Week Inter-Hospital Challenge, running from October 20–26. Each participating hospital or health network aims for the highest staff participation rate in the Waste Reduction Week Quiz, a quick, 3-minute challenge that encourages and teaches waste reduction and recycling.
