Microbiology at University Health Network is a shared service with Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) and operates under the name UHN/ MSH Department of Microbiology.

It is the largest and most influential hospital-based microbiology team in Canada, providing full microbiology testing services for several Ontario hospitals. The lab offers a full range of high-quality microbiology services from routine cultures and susceptibility testing to the molecular typing of organisms. Extensive consultative services are available in the areas of test selection and interpretation, laboratory accreditation and infection control.

Antimicrobial Stewardship Program

Antimicrobial stewardship refers to a programmatic, coordinated set of interventions aimed at promoting, tracking, and reporting the appropriate use of antimicrobials to mitigate the rise of antimicrobial resistance.
