Research Program's Education Activities

The Schroeder Arthritis Institute (SAI) offers a comprehensive research education program designed to support trainees and staff through opportunities in research funding, skill development, career advancement, education, mentorship, networking, and wellness. Each quarter, the SAI research education team hosts virtual career development seminars featuring leading researchers from within the Institute and beyond. These sessions highlight diverse academic and professional pathways and offer valuable insights and advice. A recent seminar featured three clinicians who shared perspectives on academic career trajectories across three generations.

The education program also includes annual or biannual internship placements aimed at broadening trainees' exposure to areas adjacent to academia. For example, a recent internship at Dalriada Drug Discovery Inc. provided hands-on experience in drug design and therapeutic development processes.

SAI places a strong emphasis on mental health and well-being. Through its education program, the Institute organizes wellness events for trainees and staff. The most recent event celebrated the start of summer with outdoor games, exercise, and gardening activities, which were met with enthusiastic participation.
