Toronto (July 3, 2005) - The Northeast Cluster Hospitals Partner with MDS and UHN to Provide Laboratory Services to 10 Hospitals in Region

An agreement has been reached with MDS Diagnostic Services and University Health Network (UHN) to provide laboratory services to 10 hospitals in Northeastern Ontario through the Toronto Medical Laboratory (TML) partnership.

The hospitals served include: Anson General Hospital, Bingham Memorial Hospital, The Lady Minto Hospital, Notre Dame Hospital, Sensenbrenner Hospital, Smooth Rock Falls Hospital, Hornepayne Community Hospital, Englehart & District Hospital, Kirkland & District Hospital and the Timmins & District Hospital.

Under the terms of the agreement, a clinical service partnership is established with the group of Northeastern hospitals to deliver a range of services, including:

  • Regional Laboratory Management
  • Laboratory Medical Director services
  • Anatomic Pathology services
  • Reference Testing services
  • Specimen Transportation services
  • Quality Management services

MDS currently has extensive experience providing laboratory services in the region, including operating a testing lab in Sudbury and managing two local hospital laboratories.
