Toronto (Oct. 9, 2006) - University Health Network (UHN) has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for the fourth consecutive year and is one of only three hospitals to make the list.
"The fact that UHN has been named one of Canada's top employers for four years in a row demonstrates that we continually provide an environment in which our staff can thrive," says Dr. Robert Bell, UHN's President and CEO. "I would like to congratulate everyone for their contributions in making UHN such a great place to work."
Mediacorp Canada reviewed recruitment histories of over 60,000 employers from across the country. Only 10,000 of these employers were invited to apply for the award, with over 1,500 participating in the application process. Selection criteria included compensation, benefits, vacation, training programs, health and wellness programs and diversity initiatives.
"It is a remarkable achievement that we made the Top 100 list for the fourth year in a row," says Emma Pavlov, Vice President of Human Resources at UHN. "Our significantly enhanced wellness program, innovative new nursing model, family friendly benefits and multi-faceted career planning and development programs are all examples of our commitment to our employees."
Breakthrough research attracts brilliant minds from all over the world to UHN, while leadership programs and development opportunities allow employees to continually enhance their skills. This, coupled with UHN's commitment to diversity, has helped bring together a group of employees that not only reflects the diverse populations served by each of the hospitals, but also continually improves the quality of care given to patients.
University Health Network is a major landmark in Canada's healthcare system, and a teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. Building on the strengths and reputation of each of our three hospitals, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, UHN brings together the talent and resources needed to achieve global impact and provide exemplary patient care, research and education.
