Toronto (July 11, 2007) - UHN, in collaboration with Shared Information Management Services (SIMS), has won the much coveted 2007 VIP Award in the Innovator category.
The only Canadian winner, the SIMS Patient Portal team received the award for its online patient portal, which has been highly successful in improving the overall care experience for breast cancer survivorship patients. The portal gives patients an electronic glimpse of their patient chart, and also provides an online support community, educational materials, and links to resources. The SIMS Partnership is now expanding the program to other UHN areas, including diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
McKesson is an international health care services and information technology company that provides health care information technology services for hospitals, physicians and homecare.
