I started my career after graduation from university as a social worker for the Children’s Aid Society. It made me see human nature and understand the impact one person has on another. I was very interested in the dynamics of healthy interpersonal relationships and it opened up my eyes to the healthcare environment. Number two – there is a circle with an image inside of a lightbulb. What advice would you give your 25-year-old self? Don’t worry so much about what you don’t know; leverage what you do know and be open to all new experiences. Wisdom will come through experiences, both successful ones and failures. I used to focus on what I didn’t know and how I could be better. I’ve learned that people are more successful if they leverage what they’re good at and passionate about and then build from that place. Number three - there is a circle with an image inside of a lion. What was your childhood dream job? My childhood dream job was to be a vet and go to Africa and work with rescued wild animals. I’m a huge animal lover, my whole family is. I love tigers and cheetahs and lions. I wanted to be a vet for that kind of animal. Number four - there is a circle with an image inside of a cartoon party hat. Do you have a New Year’s Resolution? I don’t have New Year’s resolutions because they don’t work for me! I do make resolutions all year round. My latest resolution is to learn Spanish and re-learn French. Number five - there is a circle with an image inside of three cartoon books stacked beside each other. What’s your favourite hobby? I love to read and to travel. I like archeology a lot and I go to some places like Jerusalem and Rome that have lots of archeological ruins. I also love reading. I read one or two books a week usually. Recently I finished Life of Pi and that was one of my favourite books. Number six - there is a circle with an image inside of a map. What’s your favourite place you’ve travelled and why? My favourite place is Rome. Its history, its ruins, its food, its wine, the people, the Trevi Fountain – that’s why. I loved the statues on every corner. Number seven – there is a circle with an image inside of the University Health Network logo. What are you most excited about in your new role? I have an operational leadership role at Michener and this is new and exciting for me. I am inspired by the idea of taking two great organizations and creating something new and exciting that will benefit patients, students, employees and society as a whole. Focusing on the operational side as well as on the Human Resources and organizational development sides provides me with a great opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization. Finally, I'm really looking forward to working with Brian Hodges. I love working with Brian and I think I can learn a lot from him.
