Number 2 – What’s your favourite hobby? I'm an electronics hobbyist. Over the years, I have worked on robots, distortion pedals, and solar power systems with my kids. Number 3 – What’s your favourite place to travel to and why? Stockholm, Sweden is one of my favourite places. I have a lot of friends and collaborators there and it's a really beautiful and historic city. I also love northern Ontario. Number 4 – Do you have a New Year’s resolution? I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. Number 5 – What kind of music would we find on your iPod? I have an eclectic mix from Deadmau5 to Miles Davis. “Kind of Blue” is a favourite. Number 6 – What was your childhood dream job? I have always wanted to be a scientist. Even when I was a farm kid in Alberta, I dreamed of having my own laboratory. Number 7 – What’s your favourite book? I recently enjoyed Tuxedo Park by Jennet Conant. It's about alignment of science and industry. Number 8 – What are you most excited about in your new role? I'm really excited about the future. A focus on technology and innovation allows UHN to become really effective at delivering high-quality care, but also engineering our hospitals to become the fastest learning hospitals. We'll be able to work in a more cohesive way across the organization through technology, social tools, and an open science concept. All those come together to make an exciting future.
