PVP Electronic Jam happens this week!

A reminder that this Thursday, September 22nd and Friday, September 23rd we will be hosting an "Electronic Jam" on the new Purpose, Values & Principles. We want to hear what you think about this draft – do these values reflect your UHN? Did we miss something? Leaders from across the organization, myself included, will be online from 10am to 5pm and 10pm to midnight on both days. You can ask us questions about the PVP and let us know what you think. I will be online between 3 – 4pm on Thursday, September 22nd to chat about the value 'stewardship'. So log in this Thursday or Friday and help us shape the future of UHN.

Patient Partners Celebration Tea

At UHN we know that our patients and their caregivers have invaluable insights to share. That's why we created the Patient Partners program. Through this program we are able to get the perspective of UHN patients and caregivers as we make important decisions as an organization about our clinical programs and services, facilities, as well as the design and functionality of our patient portal so that we can improve the quality of care we provide and a better overall patient experience.

We are so lucky to have such dedicated patient partners, so last week I co-hosted a celebration tea with Joy Richards, Vice-President Patient Experience and Chief Health Professions, to recognize them and say thank you from all of us here at UHN. We also heard from Peter Kyriakides who shared his experience as a patient partner at Toronto Rehab. It was a fantastic event and an important reminder of why we do the work that we do. It also highlighted for me how privileged we are to not only work in a field dedicated to helping people, but to conduct this work at an organization that's continuously looking for new ways to improve the experiences our patients have during their time with us.

Employee Engagement Pulse Survey

This morning I sent an All Users email about our Employee Engagement Pulse Survey, which will run from October 11th to October 21st. I hope you will take a moment to complete the survey and share your feedback. It will provide us with very valuable information about the progress we are making on our action plans, so that we can continue creating a high quality work environment for our staff.

I Give @ UHN

As employees of this great organization we see the impact our work has on patients first-hand. For many of us, this is also why we participate in I Give @ UHN, our employee giving program. We know this support will ultimately help improve care for the people we are here to serve: our patients. There are so many ways that you can participate in this program, from a one-time donation to payroll deductions, hosting special events or the ever-popular 50/50 staff raffle. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Each fall our foundations come together to raise awareness of the employee giving program and they are kicking off that campaign this week. You can learn more about the program at igiveatuhn.ca. I am proud to give because I believe in supporting the work that we all do here at UHN.
