Order of Canada recognizes members of the UHN community

I am proud to announce that three members of the UHN community have been appointed to the Order of Canada, one of our country's highest civilian honours. Dr. Sharon Walmsley, Assistant Director of the Immunodeficiency Clinic at Toronto General Hospital, Dr. Gail Robinson, Director of the Women's Mental Health Program at UHN, and Emmanuelle Gattuso, philanthropist and donor to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre were all appointed as Members of the Order. The Order of Canada recognizes Canadians for outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. Dr. Walmsley, Dr. Robinson and Ms. Gattuso are valued members of our community who have contributed so much to UHN and I am glad they are being honoured for their contributions to Canada. I want to extend my sincere congratulations to them on this incredible achievement. You can read more about their appointments here.

Michener Staff Awards

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the annual Michener Staff Awards Ceremony. The ceremony celebrated staff who exemplify UHN'S Purpose, Values and Principles and Michener's spirit of collaboration, innovation and learning. Attending the ceremony reminded me how fortunate we are to have colleagues who are so passionate about fostering student success and delivering the best graduates to our health care system. Congratulations to all the winners – you are helping to shape the future of health care. You can see the full list of winners here
