Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) Procedure

As you might know, for the last year and a half UHN's Peter Munk Cardiac Centre (PMCC) has partnered with the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), helping the organization expand and improve its advanced cardiovascular services program. Previously, Indigenous communities and individuals living in Northwestern Ontario had to travel hundreds of kilometres to receive these medical services. With this partnership, these patients now have access to sophisticated vascular disease care, close to home. Last week marked an exciting milestone in this collaboration when the first EVAR procedure was performed. The procedure was a success and the patient is already home. This collaboration is truly transforming lives and communities through excellence in care, discovery and learning.

Patient Experience Roadmap

Our Patient Experience team has developed a Roadmap, which highlights our commitment to enhancing patient experience over the next two years. You can review the roadmap on Renewing UHN and see how it reinforces our commitment to our primary value – the needs of patients come first. As you'll see below, the introduction of myUHN and what we have planned for the patient portal, support the roadmap the Patient Experience team has put in place.

myUHN Patient Portal expands across the organization today

We are proud to announce that as of today myUHN will be available to patients and caregivers across the organization. Patients already using the portal have told us it's significantly improved their experience. Patients can learn more about how to register here. Additional clinics and areas will continue to be added to this list as we work with them to provide training and support. If your clinic isn't ready to help patients sign up, you can direct them to an information booth nearby. We are so pleased to now offer this service more broadly – connecting patients and their caregivers with their care through a user-friendly digital experience is empowering and helping us put the needs of patients first. Please see our startup kits, tip sheets and other resources here for the information you need to start offering myUHN to patients in your clinic.

UHN Digital

Dr. Jaffray and I will be hosting two more IT Transformation Town Halls at Toronto Rehab's Lyndhurst and Bickle Centres. Any staff member who was unable to make one of the previous town halls is invited to join us:

  • Tuesday, February 7th, 12:00-1:00pm: TR Bickle Centre, Auditorium
  • Monday, February 13th, 12:00pm-1:00pm: TR Lyndhurst Centre, Lecture AB

There are many staff across the organization that support our digital and IT needs. Beginning today, they will start to come together as one enterprise-wide team: UHN Digital. This transition will happen in phases over the next several months. As that happens, all of our IT teams will adopt the UHN Digital brand (logo below). This will enable us to respond to the rapidly evolving digital work, which will create a UHN that is customer centered, and digitally enabled with strong governance and operational excellence.
