What We Do

The KITE Clinics are a consolidated program that has incorporated three of the existing innovations clinics at Toronto Rehab under one umbrella (MIC, Rocket South, Rocket North). This consolidated program operates across two sites Lyndhurst and University Centre (UC and LC) and offers services to individuals presenting with neurological deficits. Both locations are clinical/research partnerships to accelerate the development of innovative practices to optimize functional outcomes for people with neurological conditions.

The consolidated rehab program offers therapeutic services for a holistic neurological program. Within the KITE Clinics are two of KITE Research Institutes Labs: The Upper Extremity Neurorestorative and Innovations Lab and the Mobility Innovations Centre.

We assess and treat individuals who have a neurological condition that has resulted in changes in their function from conditions such as: stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic or acquired brain injury.

How to Prepare

Services provided are not usually covered by OHIP and in most cases, covered by third-party funding such as motor vehicle insurance, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), extended health benefits and/or self-pay.

Services will be provided by Registered Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

Patients are being considered for therapy using non-invasive electrical stimulation (ES). These devices have multiple channels that deliver low-energy electrical pulses transcutaneously via surface electrodes to facilitate muscle or nerve stimulation. All devices are approved by Health Canada. Please keep in mind for any restrictions in using ES (MyndMove).

Individuals must be able to participate in an intensive therapy program and home program.
