Following up with all your doctors is important after surgery. Before you leave the hospital, we will tell you when to see your surgeon for a follow-up appointment.
You should call to arrange a follow-up visit within a week of going home. If you do not have an appointment for follow-up before leaving the hospital, call your surgeon’s office.
WhenYour follow-up appointment is usually about 4 to 6 weeks after your surgery. If you don’t have an appointment for a follow-up before you leave the hospital, call your surgeon’s office the first week you are home.

What to ExpectThis appointment will let your doctor see how you are feeling. It is important for measuring your progress. On the day of your follow-up appointment, go to the x-ray department first to have a chest x-ray.
