Our inpatient unit is one of the largest head and neck & plastics program in the country.
Our strong inter-professional team cares for patients recovering from major and minor head, neck, and plastic resections /reconstructions. Nurses on our unit are experts in airway management, flap monitoring, medical leech therapy, health teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial assessments and support.
We care for patients with cancers affecting:
- Oral cavity (i.e. lip and mouth)
- Larynx
- Pharynx (nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx)
- Salivary glands
- Nasal cavities and sinuses
- Thyroid and upper trachea
- Breasts requiring reconstruction
- Skin (melanoma/basal cell)
You need to be seen and admitted by a doctor at UHN to become a patient in our inpatient unit.
