Continuing Education

Through partnership and collaboration, the Princess Margaret Cancer Program has developed an integrated education program that values continuous learning, a culture of curiosity and engagement in teaching. Many of our physicians and other health care professionals contribute to and take leadership roles in local, national and international continuing education initiatives with provincial agencies, professional associations, academic institutions and other hospitals and organizations.

In 2016, UHN integrated with The Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences, bringing together a diploma-granting health care education institution with an academic health sciences network within a single organization for the first time in Canada.  Learn more about the Michener Institute at UHN »

Additional Continuing Education Opportunities

• Princess Margaret Cancer Program offers fully accredited learning experiences for health care professionals in partnership with the  University of Toronto’s Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development.
• The Radiation Medicine Program (RMP) at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre runs an  Accelerated Education Program with the goal of accelerating the mobilization and translation of knowledge into practice. Our courses in  Image-Guided Radiation Therapy,   Quality & Safety in Radiation Therapy,  Accelerator Technology and  Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy offer unique opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills, and strategies to implement the course principles into radiotherapy practice. 
• RMP also offers an  Observership Program for practicing radiation oncologists, physicists and radiation therapists to broaden their medical knowledge “on-site” by visiting and observing our clinical environment and activities at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. These discipline-based, 1-2 week programs will expose observers to state-of-the-art facilities and clinical care, as well as mentorship from award-winning experts in radiation medicine.
• de Souza Institute helps health care professionals obtain the specialized skills needed to guide and help cancer patients throughout their journey. The  de Souza Nursing Designation is the latest standard in cancer care nursing excellence.
