​Participation in the Clinical Research Study

Participating in the clinical study of concussions at The Canadian Concussion Centre involves:

  1. An MRI of the brain
  2. A neurological assessment
  3. A blood test
  4. A neuropsychological assessment
  5. A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) of the scan of the brain.

Participants are provided with the results of the neurological exam and the neuropsychological assessment, including a summary report and recommendations if there are clinical findings. The assessments are completed in Toronto, Ontario over the course of two days; the neurological and MRI assessments are at Toronto Western Hospital, and the neuropsychological assessment is at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, and PET scan at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

Due to restricted research funding, at the present time we are only accepting former professional athletes. If you are a professional athlete with a history of concussions, and would like to participate in our clinical study please contact:
