Neuropsychology treats and assesses the structure and functions of the brain as they relate to specific psychological processes and behaviours, such as memory and cognitive abilities. Neuropsychologists work with patients on a range of neurological issues including epilepsy, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease and stroke.
We conduct cognitive assessments that describe your strengths and weaknesses in your memory and thinking abilities. It can identify problems that are linked to your particular neurological condition. This can help in deciding a diagnosis, deciding on a proper therapy or surgery and identifying strategies to help you cope with your difficulties.
We also do special procedures for some patients being considered for brain surgery. These include MRI and MEG studies where we map language, motor and memory functions in the brain and the Wada procedure (where we can examine the capacity of one hemisphere of the brain by sedating the other).
