​​​​What is a Personalized Learning Program™?

The Personalized Learning Program (PLP™) at UHN is a fully customizable, observership based program designed to adPhoto of studentsdress the specific needs of an individual learner. Each PLP may include multiple clinical areas, simulation labs, professional development opportunities and other resources throughout UHN, if applicable to the learner's objectives.

PLP participant will also have access to a number of UHN learning resources including, but not limited to, library services, workshops and a network of healthcare leaders from across professions as appropriate.

The PLP is open to any health care profession and program at all UHN campuses. The duration of the program can vary from one week to a maximum of three months. Potential candidates are required to clearly articulate their learning objectives and pass an English assessment interview. A non-refundable $100 application fee will be required in addition to the formal application and supporting documentation.

At the end of the PLP, learners will have met their learning objectives and will receive a UHN PLP Certificate of Completion.

Application Process & Requirements

Potential candidates are requested to apply 3 months before their desired start date. The following information must be submitted to uhnice@uhn.ca.

  • Current Resume
  • 2 Reference Letters – One from current/most recent employer and one from another (non-family member) source
  • A Non-Refundable Application Fee of $100 
  • Applicants must be available for an in-person or Skype interview (with video)

PLPs are delivered in English only. All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English. Interpreters cannot be used for educational purposes during a PLP.

Fees

The PLP is a fee-based experience. The following are the weekly base fees for both National and International learners in Canadian Dollars.

Canadian Learners

International Learners 

$500/week

$1,500/week

Timelines and Post-Acceptance Requirements

Potential candidates should allow approximately 3 weeks for processing from the time they submit their application. Once the application has been reviewed by UHN ICE, the candidate will be contacted for an their PLP interview.

All successful candidates will be expected to be vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella, and varicella (chickenpox). Candidates will be asked to complete a UHN Self Screen Health Evaluation Form.
